Mold Inspections & Testing

Certified Mold Assessment for Properties in Birmingham, Alabama

Mold hides where you can't see it. We find it before it becomes your liability.

Alabama's warm, humid climate makes Birmingham, Alabama one of the highest-risk areas for mold growth in residential and commercial properties. Mold can grow inside walls, in HVAC systems, under flooring, and in crawlspaces — invisible to the naked eye and often undetected in a standard home inspection. Centsable Inspections provides certified mold assessments that identify both visible mold and hidden moisture conditions that promote mold growth.

✓

Surface Sampling

Tape lift or swab samples of visible mold for species identification and concentration levels.

✓

Thermal Imaging

Infrared camera inspection to detect hidden moisture behind walls and ceilings without destructive testing.

Alabama's Climate Makes Mold a Real Risk — Not a Remote One

Birmingham averages over 50 inches of rainfall per year and high summer humidity. That moisture finds its way into homes through roofs, windows, foundations, and HVAC systems — and where there's sustained moisture, mold follows. A standard home inspection can identify obvious mold, but hidden mold requires moisture meters, air sampling, and thermal imaging to detect. The cost of professional mold remediation ranges from a few hundred dollars for a small area to tens of thousands for a severe infestation. A mold inspection before closing can identify the problem before it becomes your responsibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a mold inspection the same as a mold test?

Not exactly. A mold inspection is a visual and moisture assessment. A mold test involves collecting air or surface samples for laboratory analysis. We often combine both based on what we find during the inspection.

Should I always get a mold inspection when buying a home?

We recommend it for any home with a history of water damage, flooding, or musty odors — and for any home in Alabama with a dirt crawlspace. These are high-risk conditions.

What does it mean if mold is found?

It depends on the type, location, and extent. Some mold is cosmetic and inexpensive to remediate. Others require full professional remediation. We explain every finding in plain terms so you can make an informed decision.

Can you find mold if it's behind walls?

We use moisture meters and infrared thermal imaging to identify elevated moisture conditions behind walls and ceilings — often before mold is visible. Air sampling can also detect elevated spore counts even when the source isn't visible.

Do you do mold remediation?

No — we are an independent assessment firm. We do not perform remediation, which means our findings are completely objective with no conflict of interest.
